The Plan:

Improving Government:

1. Serving the students should be a volitional act.
1. We will not accept pay taken from student’s pockets
2. Government should be open. 
1. Stream meetings online
2. Make all documents easily available to all students, including:
1. An up-to-date budget breakdown, so you know where your money is
2. A weekly progress report, to make student government accountable to you
3. An interactive blog, that enables everyone to share ideas
3. Create a Student Spokesman 
1. To ensure there is always someone there to listen
2. Reach out to commuters, residents and student organizations

Improving Campus:

1. Issue campus safety reports including information on the status of buildings pertaining to health and safety
2. Expand Project Oasis to create a more welcoming environment
3. Heat the bus stops to help students waiting for public transportation 
4. Improve campus walkways and walkway maintenance to decrease puddles and ice patches.
5. Work to ensure cleaner campus facilities
6. Establish an open dialogue on new building projects, with an emphasis placed on students’ voices and opinions.
7. Address vital building maintenance which affect our safety, such as;
1. Fire alarm & sprinkler system installation and upkeep
2. Elevator repairs and maintenance for campus accessibility
3. Asbestos in BSB
4. UH disrepair
8. Implement more SMART rooms to stay on the cutting edge of technology

Spending:

1. Make textbooks more affordable:
1. Reduce taxes on textbooks by working with legislators
2. Sell packaged books individually to lessen the burden on students
3. Sell books without interactive media to spare students of unnecessary costs
2. Increase awareness of the University’s financial matters:
1. Provide students with easy access to the University’s budget to know where their money is going
2. Create an open forum to discuss University spending
1. Allow students to voice their opinions before decisions are made as to how their money will be spent 
3. Reduce corporate presence on campus by providing more opportunities for local businesses
4. Create more scholarship opportunities for students
5. Increase accountability of administrators and students in charge of spending money to ensure responsible spending
6. Increase communication with the Board of Trustees to improve the effective use of our money
7. Implement a meal point rollover plan to benefit students who rely upon campus food services

Going Green:

1. Institute a new recycling program
1. Make biodegradable bags available in places like the bookstore, to decrease waste and provide a cleaner environment
2. Make safer and greener products, such as safe drinking bottles, safer microwaves and better dorm amenities, available throughout the campus
3. Increase the amount of new, more recognizable recycling bins
2. Promote more geothermal energy on campus
3. Eliminate unnecessary paper waste
4. Create a new community organic garden to increase the use of open space on campus

Pride and Community

1. Unify students by empowering our common bonds on campus
2. Work with both residents and commuters to make sure all thoughts and concerns are addressed pertaining to our day-to-day activities around campus
3. Use an executive committee to bring student groups with similar initiatives and goals together to help them in their efforts
4. Create a website called SOUL net to bring students together
1. Help students connect by providing an online forum to keep people up to date on activities pertaining to similar interests and tastes.
2. Allow students to get to know one another and make involvement more accessible

• Implement GUIDE program
  1. To make sure relevant academic information is easily available to students
  1. This will help students to take full advantage of the University by letting them know all the options available to them concerning their future studies here at UIC
  • Diversity
  1. Bring UIC diversity to Chicago community at large
  • Community Volunteer Program
  • Create network to ensure a helping hand is available when needed by students
  • Promote volunteer programs like ASB, SLDVS and STLF to increase volunteer opportunities for students who want to become involved around campus
